Five-day Google Ventures (GV) Design Sprint

This project is using Five-day Google Ventures (GV) Design Sprint. GV Design sprint is a method google uses solve their big problems and test their new ideas.

Day one:

House2Home is a new startup helping people decorate their new home or apartment they moved to recently.  client is the younger generation who just moved to their first home or apartment and didn’t know how to decorate their place and need some guidance. House2home has seen an opportunity to offer a kit with a few items to help the client move forward with their decoration.

From the research and interview, I gather shared insights and pain points such as

  • Difficulty making a decision
  • Staying within the budget
  • Limited time for search
  • Overwhelming imagery and number of product

Day Two:

To help the user having a better experience and purchase the starter kit, we need to provide them targeted options to search e.g.

  • Kits with the price point
  • Kits with theme Such as Beach, country, modern, colors, etc.
  • Kits with the number of items
  • Kits with the clean look and not overwhelming photos

This way they can narrow their search down, so they don’t have to spend a lot of time searching also they don’t have to be bombarded with a significant amount of products. Also, If they have a specific item in mind, they can find the products and have the option of seeing kits that include this item. We can have the option for answering some questions to pick the right kit for them.

Day Three:

One way of showing the solution is using storyboard in this step I sketch a story board for the site.

Day Four:

Using sketch I made the prototype of the site with the solution for the kits.

Day Five:

Testing the prototype:

           Try it Out

I chose 5 participants out of my friends and they tested the prototype of the site individually. Participants were between the ages 18-30. They just graduated from college or have been working for several years.

I started the interview with describing a little about the project to make them familiar with the concept and asked them to go through the site with the mindset of moving to a new place and wanting to purchase some decorative items.

  • People with limited budget would like to use the price option for the kit.
  • People with more budget would like to use the theme page the most.
  • 3-5 item page was not as popular
  • Their gender had a lot to do with picking the theme or the budget. Men tend to pick one with the theme.

After the test I believe the two in order to help we can narrow it down to two types of kits one by the theme and the other by the price.
