In this assignment Springboard will match an individual with a company in order to experience a real life User Experience Design project. The company is looking for a modern app that is easy to use and allows the clients book flights through an account with Savion Aerospace.
Company: Savion Aerospace
Role: User Experience Designer
Duration: 40 hours
Contribution: Strategic plan and Blueprint of the UX Process, heuristic and competitive research, sitemap, user booking flow wireframe, interview screener, interview questions, and sketches of the login process for the app.
Tools Used: Pen and Paper, Sticky Notes, Sketch, Mirro, Google forms.
Overview
Savion is an aerospace company looking to transform the aviation industry via non-crude based energy and re-defined customer experiences. They are bringing green, frequent, flexible, and productive private jet service to business travelers. The website and app will be used as a platform for booking flights, hotels and transportation, as well as a dashboard for users personal and travel information.
Step One: User Experience Strategy
I started the process by collecting information to find the best way to approach the challenge. After the initial interview with Jon, the CEO of Savion Aerospace, my findings indicated the target audience was known to Jon. However, despite knowing what type of users they would have liked to target, user research had not been completed. This was an opportunity for me to introduce the user experience design process to him and come up with the strategic plan of the steps needed to build a successful online platform.
Step Two: Research
Second step in this process was to research competitors and the market. I conducted a competitive research to see what the approach and path is for the booking process and online site.
Step Three: Wireframe
After the research I was able to create a general sitemap and a booking user flow.
Step Four: Sketch and High Fidelity Prototyping
I also sketched a few screens of the app to make sure the color palate chosen matched their vision.
Step Five: User Research
Screener Survey
After having the general sitemap I was able to start the user research process. For this step, I needed a certain group of people to participate in my research.
- Ages 20-40
- Young executives,
- Entrepreneurs,
- Administrative staff who travel for work and leisure
I wrote Interview Screener so it can be used to narrow down the eligible participants.
Interview Questions
As the last part of my collaboration with Savion Aerospace, I provided them a set of questions for the interview. These questions will give direction to the UX designer who is going to work with them after me.
Conclusion:
Working as a UX designer with Savion Aerospace, I learned
- How to communicate with the CEO and founder of the company
- I was able to explain the UX process
- Emphasize on the importance of user research and interview
- I was able to see the big picture and break it down to the smaller steps
